Food for Thought About Asian Recipes

Have you ever called Italian Tortellini “European Pasta”?

What about French Brie? Have you ever called it “European Cheese”?

There are 44 countries in Europe so it makes sense we differentiate dishes by its country.

However, Asia has 48 countries. Yet, how many times have we called a specific Asian country’s dish “Asian [insert general food item]”?

Why do tend to generalize Asia as a whole when it comes to food? How does this type of generalization also impact Asian people?

FYI Even though I am Korean-American, I am very guilty of generalizing Asian food, especially as the one compiling all these low carb Asian recipes! Just wanted to share this food for thought for fellow foodies who loves a good bite.

There are so many great choices here, I don't know which is my favourite! I've never tried zoodles before, so would like to try making some. I was surprised to see the orange beef recipe on there; I always thought that's quite a calorific choice for dinner! It looks delicious!

Wow, these are absolutely well prepared diet meals, which are also very healthy. I would love to try cooking each of them one of these days. The Teriyaki Chicken and the Pad Thai Zoodles looks really easy to prepare. These foods are not just low carb, but looks really tempting and luscious. I would love to try each of that food. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

The recipes are great, but here comes the big question: do you find out of Asia the ingredients to cook them? Because in Romania for example, I don't think I can find an Asian shop to buy herbs and spices (and these make the best of all in Asia). I tried egg drop soup in Nepal and it was great, hearty and filling. You really don't need anything else after eating it. And it is even Low Carb, I mean you cannot desire more than that.
