Why This is the Best Airbnb in Lisbon

Convenient Location

Tourist Sites

If you plan on visiting the Jeronimos Monastery, the Tropical Garden, Pastéis de Belém (the most famous pasteis bakery in Lisbon), the Belem Tower, MAAT, or even the LX Factory, then this is a great location to be.

The monastery, garden, and Pastéis de Belém are all within a 5 minute walk. The Belem Tower and MAAT are within a 20 minute walk, and the LX Factory is within a 30 minute walk or just a 3 euro Uber.

Transportation

There’s a bus stop right in front of the house, and the Belem tram line is within 10 minutes of walking, but personally, if you’re with a group of two to four, I’d take Uber because Ubers generally ran from 3-10 euros every time I took it even to the airport, and a tram ticket cost 2,90 euros.

It is more economical and efficient to take an Uber with a couple or group.

Beautiful View

view from best airbnb in lisbon

One of the many reasons why this is the best Airbnb in Lisbon because of its beautiful view from the patio. Down below, you could see the tropical gardens; to the left, a modest church, and to the right, the National Sanctuary of Christ the King statue across the river.

It was really lovely see the sunset cast a soft glow on all the greenery below, and the moon peeking out at nighttime on a clear night.

Note: This beautiful view of Lisbon comes with a physical cost. This apartment is on the third floor, or in US terms, on the fourth floor. However, if you are physically able to climb stairs, it’s not that bad.

I have fibromyalgia and muscle pain, sciatica, and fatigue quite easily, but found these stairs to be relatively doable since I was out exploring often and only went up the stairs once or twice a day.

If you can handle the stairs, then I recommend staying here for the view, and the extra bit of exercise you’ll get to burn off all the Pastéis de natas you’ll be eating.

Relatively Affordable

This Airbnb in Belem is relatively affordable at €75 a night*, which is better than the prices I saw in Old Town. You might be thinking that even though you’ll save money on accommodation, you’ll still have to spend money on transportation. From experience, it was still cheaper to stay in Belem than in Old Town since Ubers in Lisbon are so cheap.

*This price is as of May 2018. It may have changed by the time you’re reading this. Please check the updated listing to see the most relevant price, and if you’re new to Airbnb, use my code to get $20-40 off your first booking!

Comfortable

This Airbnb in Belem is definitely one of the most comfortable Airbnbs I’ve stayed at, and I know Airbnbs—I’ve stayed at about 30 of them! What really stood out was the mattress and pillows. I have fibromyalgia so having a good bed and pillow is quite important to me; otherwise, I wake up with a stiff neck or some nerve pain.

I’m happy to stay during all four nights of sleeping here, I had no extra pains from the bed. In fact, I had a good night’s sleep with how quiet this neighborhood is and how comfortable the bed was.

In addition, the apartment has everything you need for your time in Lisbon from a full kitchen to toiletries in the bathroom. The only thing you might want is a washer/dryer, which the apartment doesn’t have, but for a short weekend trip in Lisbon, is normally unnecessary.

Why This is the Best Airbnb in Lisbon To Me

Overall, my experience at this Airbnb in Belem was quite wonderful, and I’d definitely stay here again if I have the chance to visit Lisbon. I really loved that it was a bit further out of the madness so that it was quiet and relaxing, but still close enough to everything I wanted to see.
