I stayed at a hotel in Flushing NY recently in November and very much enjoyed staying here.
It was clean, modern and in the best location near lots of delicious restaurants (recommendations below) and the subway. Plus my room had a great view of the Manhattan skyline.

Why I Was Shocked to Stay at This Hotel in Flushing NY
First is that I grew up in Flushing, Queens in the 90s (omg when did I get old?) and still consider it to be my home in ways. My halmuni, Korean for grandma, still lives there so I’d visit her every month or so when I lived in Manhattan or now every year since I live in Amsterdam.
Back then, Flushing did not have nice, modern hotels, and overtime, a couple popped up but they’re not hotels that I would want to stay in. Reviews say that those hotels now are outdated and a couple of reviews mention bed bugs.
Thus, when I was looking for a hotel in Flushing to stay at, I was surprised to see that the Hotel Indigo brand had made its way here. I’ve stayed at the Hotel Indigo in London, UK and Helsinki, Finland and have loved it every time so I knew that I’d enjoy it in Flushing as well.
Flushing with hotels now? And even better, Flushing with the Hotel Indigo brand? The 90s Flushing would’ve never predicted that.

Second reason that I was shocked to stay at a hotel in Flushing is more personal.
I grew up poor.
Both my parents died by the time I was 10 and my sister, 14, brother 18 and I were left alone to raise ourselves. I grew up on welfare and put myself through college with literal sweat and tears.
I imagined that if I ever visited Flushing, I would stay at my uncle’s nearby or at my halmuni’s right in Flushing.
But nope, I can now afford to comfortable stay the hotel of choice that I want in Flushing and explore Flushing and visit my family all on my own terms.
I was sitting in the lounge area of the Hotel Indigo and had a real moment of gratitude.
But enough about me! Let’s talk about why this hotel is the best hotel in Flushing.
Hotel Indigo Flushing LGA: Why It’s The Best Hotel in Flushing
Great Value
I originally looked at the cheapest hotels in Flushing but after doing some deep diving, I decided against it and spend only $90 more for two nights to book Hotel Indigo. The cheap hotels in Flushing had reviews about bed bugs and even though they were from months ago, I was not going to risk my family getting bedbug bites!
Considering Hotel Indigo was only $90 more than the cheapest hotels for two nights, it’s a great value.
The hotel is relatively new as it was built in 2022. You can tell by how modern, clean and refreshed everything looks and feels.

Comfortable Room and Lounge Area With View of Manhattan
We had a room on the 9th floor, which had a beautiful view of the Manhattan skyline mixed with a gorgeous sunset.
The bed itself was very, very comfortable. It had the right amount of plushiness with the right amount of firmness to ensure your back doesn’t hurt.
The room overall felt clean and refreshing and was complete with a desk and ample storage for a few night stay. Same went for the bathroom.
This is a huge contrast to hotel rooms in Manhattan, which sometimes are so small, there’s barely any space to walk.
We stayed here as a family of three with a toddler and found that it fit all of our stuff and stroller comfortably.
Both nights we headed down to the lounge area on the 2nd floor to eat some dumplings and dessert. It’s a great spot to hang out in if you want to eat in or relax away from your room.

Location, Location, Location
The location was absolutely perfect for exploring Flushing. It’s right near:
- Main Street, Roosevelt Ave and Northern Blvd where lots of shops, bakeries and restaurants are
- The 7 subway station if you decide to venture to other parts of Queen or go into Manhattan
- LaGuardia airport, which the hotel provides a free shuttle for
For us, besides visiting my halmuni, we stuck to a 15 min. walking range. Even better, the Tangram Mall and Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings were about 5 minutes away. Let’s head to the next section to talk about these spots!
My Brother’s Recommendations on Restaurants to Check Out Near This Hotel
Before we went to Flushing, my brother sent over a list of places we could eat at in Queens.
- Flushing: Pho Bang, Birria Landia in the Tangram mall, Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao, Old Song Kimbap, Pizza Garden
- Northern Flushing: Hainan Northern, Guk-su Jip Northern
- Flushing/College Point: Amore Pizza
- Elmhurst/Corona: Urabomba
- Jackson Heights: Izakaya Fuku
- Woodside: Matsuri Sushi
Out of this list, we stuck to Flushing and tried some places he recommended and went to some places I’ve been going to for years!
Right by Hotel Indigo Flushing LGA, I’d recommend getting the:
- The birria taco at Birria Landia in the Tangram mall, which is a fun place to shop at. Make sure to also get the consummé.
- Soup dumplings and juicy fried little pork buns at Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao
- Really anything at the Tous Les Jours, specifically the Union Street location (the best one), but if you need help navigating this delicious bakery, get the traditional twist donut and the strawberry cream cake in the window display
- Gimbap at Chung Moo Rice Roll, which is right next to Tous Les Jours. The beef bulgogi rice roll is the best one and most palatable if you’ve never had one of these.

Is Hotel Indigo a luxury hotel?
Hotel Indigo is consider an upscale boutique hotel. It is not luxury but from experience, it is very comfortable and perfect place to rest your head while you’re out exploring Flushing.
How much does Hotel Indigo Flushing LES cost per night?
When we went in November, we paid $175 a night excluding taxes. I thought that price was very good considering we booked it last minute.

Is there parking by this hotel in Flushing?
There is valet parking with the hotel. Last time I checked it was $35/day but check out their site or call them for the latest date. This does not include tip.
Is there a restaurant on-site?
Hotel Indigo has a restaurant on-site that is NOT associated with the hotel. With so many amazing restaurants in Flushing, I recommend going off-site to eat.
There is also a little convenient store downstairs in case you want a midnight snack or drink but don’t want to go outside.
By the way, tap water in New York City is clean to drink! That’s recommended in my local New York City tips post.
When I visit my grandma, brother and uncle again in Queens, I definitely plan on staying at the Hotel Indigo in Flushing again.
It’s a great value for the comfort, cleanliness and refreshed feeling they provide and the location and access to all the amazing restaurants nearby is so convenient.
