Shopping in a new city is a fun experience, but if you can get local or vintage items, it’s even better. When someone asks you, “I love that! Where’d you get it?” You’ll be able to reply with, “Oh, a boutique shop in Rotterdam” or “This store in Rotterdam that has only local Rotterdam designers and creators!” Forget H&M, Zara, and every other store you can shop at home. Head to these local and vintage shops in Rotterdam to get one-of-a-kind goods to wear, furnish your home with, and even eat and drink!
Pannekoekstraat
Pannekoekstraat is only one street away from the busy Markthal and Cube Houses so you wouldn’t think the vibe of this area would be much different from a tourist hotspot, but it is. Recognized as a locals hangout, this street is more chill and full of charm. From mom-and-pop eateries and boutique shops, this street can fulfill one afternoon of eating, drinking, and shopping. Of course, shopping is our key focus here so here are some stores to check out:
Pantoufle, an interior store

Wendy Hansen opened this store in 2011 and ever since has been pursuing her vision of selling clothes that helps women dress beautifully without fuss. Kazaguruma
Ok, this one is definitely a curve ball as it’s a Korean and Japanese grocery store, but it’s a must-share. Outside of New York City, Los Angeles, and of course (duh), South Korea, I have never seen a standalone Korean grocery store, so be still my little heart when I saw this Korean grocery store selling food products I can’t find in Amsterdam. My husband too got pretty excited about this store knowing the rarity of a Korean grocery store in this world. He bought a 30LB bag of rice to carry back to Amsterdam because there’s Korean rice is nonexistent here. #arewecrazy?
Not sure what to buy here? Ask the owner for shin-ramyun (pronounced: sheen-ramen). It’s a spicy Korean ramen! Being packaged ramen, it’s not exactly healthy but delicious to eat every so often. When cooking it on the stove top, definitely add an egg and whatever veggies you want like onions and sliced zucchini, but place is good too!

Note: If you like whiskey like me, next door is a whiskey store with more whiskey than you can ever imagine! Treat yourself to a nice bottle or two.
Episode, vintage clothing store
Episode is a chain vintage clothing store in Europe, but the Rotterdam location is the spot to go to because the prices here are better than its other locations. Two bloggers I was with that weekend found so much awesome clothes here and went home with two giant bags that they somehow managed to stuff into their suitcases. One of them found an old school Chicago Bulls bomber jacket so it’s definitely worth going to see what you can find.
