Ever feel like you’re not on vacation when you’re on vacation? You know– because of the mental struggle of needing to be aware of your surroundings so you don’t get lost or say the wrong thing in a foreign language, or even the physical struggle of unexpectedly walking 8+ hours a day or getting sick from the water or food?

Well, that’s how I felt in South Korea for my first week. There was a healthy dose of culture shock and a handful of travel fails. So when I got to the Hotel Novotel Busan Ambassador at Haeundae Beach, I was ecstatic. I felt like I was truly on vacation!

Read on for my ocean view room experience with breakfast at Hotel Novotel Busan Ambassador on Haeundae Beach, how to get there from Busan’s Gimhae International Airport, or at the very least, check out my pics!

Ocean View Room

Before we could take a full step into the Hotel Novotel Busan Ambassador, the hotel porter grab our bags so we wouldn’t have to lug it to reception while checking in. It’s the first time I’ve experienced this at the hotel!

Aside from the easy check-in, I noticed that all of the staff had impeccable English, which made it easy to communicate to everyone– first time this trip– woo hoo!

The real wow factor of this hotel was the view from our hotel room as soon as we walked in.

The room itself was a little outdated, but it’s spacious, eco-friendly, has plenty of organization cubes to be OCD, AND has one of those fancy toilets so it was all good. I thought the outdated look went well with the Korean decor anyways, but I’m all about comfort and function anyways so it didn’t phase me.

I had a great sleep and loved waking up to the morning view of the ocean!

Close Access to Haeundae Beach

Haeundae Beach is one of the best beaches I’ve been to because it’s clean, spacious, the sand is soft, and the waves are fun but easy.

I loved that the Novotel Busan Ambassador is right in the middle of this beach so you could see both sides of the beach clearly. It was so pretty at sunset.

International Breakfast

Of course, a post without food just wouldn’t be me.

Our room included complimentary breakfast, which was really good. It had a wide spread of food from Korean to English (you know, if you like beans with your breakfast).

Pro tip: if you want the best of best at the breakfast buffet, get eggs from the eggs station. This guy is an egg master– doesn’t overcook the eggs at all! Also, get the Korean dumplings from the dim sum station. They are the best ones.

For those of you scared of my many Korean food pics from the buffet, don’t worry– there is a huge selection of Western foods like yogurt, oatmeal, salad, bread, BACON, and the list goes on.

If you’re a kid, you even get to eat from this Hello Kitty plate. I really wanted to use it but decided to let the kids be kids.

Endless Amenities

The amenities at this hotel are endless. I felt like I was at a resort instead of just a hotel.

To name a few, there’s a live jazz bar, dessert café, gym, pool, sauna, massage salon, and an art gallery. The art gallery is definitely worth checking out, and the view from the pool is amazing if you want to go swimming but not get sandy at the beach!

How to Get to Hotel Novotel Ambassador Busan

from Gimhae International Airport

Getting to the Hotel Novotel Ambassador Busan is very easy! There is a bus that goes directly there.

  • Once you get your luggage, head outside to where the busses are.
  • On the right side, there will be a ticket office to buy your bus ticket.
  • Tell them you’re going to Novotel, and they’ll give you the right ticket for 7,000 won.

The bus comes every half hour and is clearly labeled on the outside of the bus “HAEUNDAE BEACH”.

Get on the bus, then in about an hour or so, they will announce Hotel Novotel, and voila! You’ll be right at its doorstep.

The ocean room is really nice. And besides of course the regular frills, the breakfast got me. For me a holiday in hotel is incomplete if there isn't good breakfast. This one has so much variety that I know I will enjoy and be ready to take on the day as it comes.

I never thought South Korea had beaches like that! Looks lovely. Great hotel and what an amazing view! Loved that they had those Hello Kitty plates for kids - nice touch to please the little ones. My daughter would have been delighted with that!

Ha! When were you here? Is Busan all you saw? I hope you made it to some more places and ideally off the beaten path ones. Haeundae is just too touristy for this expat who calls Korea her home.

Yes I definitely saw more than Busan. I was in Korea for two weeks. It was really nice though by the time we got to Busan to relax on the beach to do something touristy!
