Pinterest travel boards are a great way for travel bloggers to grow their blog. They are especially helpful when you’re first starting out on Pinterest and don’t have too many followers.
This is because of how Pinterest travel group boards work. Unlike a personal board, which only you Pin to and only your followers follow, a group board has multiple people Pinning to it, and in turn, all followers of those Pinning to it.
For example, when you Pin to Pinterest travel group boards that has 15,000 followers and you have less than 100 followers, then your Pin has the chance to be seen by the group boards’ 15,000 followers instead of just your 100 followers. These thousands of followers can potentially become blog readers and/or Pinterest followers.
On the flip side, travel group boards are also helpful when you have a lot of followers too because Pinterest travel boards’ followers may differ from your own followers. As a result, you are showing your Pins to a different audience who may both convert to blog readers and/or Pinterest followers.
Keep reading to find out how to join Pinterest travel group boards and a list of ones you can join easily.
Requesting a Pinterest group board varies from board to board depending on how the Pinterest user set up the board.
For the example above, all you have to do is click on the “Request to join” button and then you will have to wait for the admin/owner of the group to approve your request.
After you join the board, you’ll want to read the description on the rules of the board.
For this Europe board, the rules include:
- posting vertical Pins only (Pin graphics that go up and down, instead of horizontal / left to right)
- posting Pins related to Europe since the board is titled Europe
Not following rules of a Pinterest group board can potentially result you in being removed from the board and not being able to Pin from it, which will limit the exposure of your Pins.
Other ways of joining group boards all depend on how the admin/owner of the group board set it up. Here are multiple ways I’ve seen by reading the description of a board:
- The admin will ask you to follow them on Pinterest, then email them.
- The admin will ask you to comment on one of their Pins in the groupboard.
- The admin will ask you to fill out a form to add you to the group board.
As you can see, the easiest way to join a group board is by clicking ‘Request to join’ on the boards that have that option. Below are a list of travel group boards with over 13,000 followers each that have the easy request option.
