Over the past three years of blogging, I’ve tried out a few social share plugins for WordPress like Sumo, Easy Social Share Buttons, and of course, WordPress’ own built-in social share buttons. But I didn’t like them because they caused my site to slow down or just didn’t fit my needs; hence, why I’ve tried out so many. I was almost ready to call it quits and just stick with what I had at the moment until my good friend and trusted blogging buddy recommended Social Warfare.
First, I noticed the price tag of $29/year, which is great considering other social media share plugins go for $89 – $240/year, but because I’m so cheap, I wasn’t sold on buying this asap despite Natasha’s raving Social Warfare review. I needed more. I needed to know that I would get a lot of bang for my buck!
Then I noticed that Social Warfare is more than your average social share plugin that gives you just pretty customized social media share buttons. Social Warfare is a feature packed social share plugin that brings you a whole new level of control on how your content is shared on social media.
Here’s five real reasons on why Social Warfare is the best social media share plugin for WordPress.
Already know you want Social Warfare? Get it here.
Optimizes Your Pinterest Marketing
Before I had Social Warfare, I had my pin graphic right in my post, usually right after the introduction or at the very end. Well, this method of sharing a pin was ugly! The optimized vertical size for Pinterest just didn’t flow with my content.
Now with this wonderful social sharing plugin, I can hide my Pin. The pin will only show up when you either hit the Pinterest share button on my Social Warfare customized buttons or the Pinterest extension on Google Chrome (if you have this).
Go ahead! Try it now. My custom pin for this post will only appear when you choose to share the post to Pinterest.
While you’re testing it out, might as well save it to Pinterest to get the full effect. You’ll see that once you save it to Pinterest, it’ll come preloaded with my custom Pinterest description!
This is great because you can leave the ‘alt’ text of your images optimized for Google, and Pinterest description optimization won’t be battling for that precious spot anymore. In fact, you can set it so that any of the images on your page saved to Pinterest will use the custom Pinterest description despite having Google optimized ‘alt’ text in each photo.
This feature alone was worth the $29/year on Social Warfare.
Helps Recover Lost Social Share Counts
Besides optimizing your Pinterest marketing and keeping your feed nice and clean, Social Warfare has the ability to recover your lost social share counts! Yep, that’s right. You can switch from http:// to https:// without losing your social share counts.
It’s really easy to. You just go into the Social Warfare Advanced Settings, scroll down to the Share Recovery section, and follow the easy-to-read directions.
If you migrated your domain from one url to another, Social Warfare will also help you capture that social shares lost during the migration.
Who wants to lose all their hard earned social share counts just because they switched from http:// to https:// or changing domain names? Let’s see… NO ONE! Save your hard earned social share counts with Social Warfare.
Blocks Content Pirates
There are sites out there essentially hijack your content. They are considered content pirates. Essentially, they take your content like a post, and put a frame over it that has some type of advertisement, call-to-action, or affiliate link.
For the most part it’s hard to tell when someone has put a frame on your content and is using it to their advantage, but it happened to me. When a reader came to my site, it looked exactly like my site except for the little button on the bottom right that said, “Start a Fire also recommends this post: [Insert Recommend Post Here]”. If a reader clicked on that, they would leave my site to wherever Start a Fire brought them.
It didn’t hurt so much to have that since the reader was still reading my post, but taking advantage of my content for their use? Not cool!
Social Warfare has the ability to stop content pirates with their frame buster. You can find it under Advanced Settings at the top.
Improves How Your Content is Shared on Social Media
So you already know that Social Warfare is great for optimizing your Pinterest marketing, but it’s also customizable for Facebook and Twitter too! You can load in a custom Facebook graphic that’ll get shared to Facebook instead of your feature image, write a separate text for social media instead of it sharing your excerpt, and write a custom Tweet.
[clickToTweet tweet=”Social Warfare is the best and only social media sharing plugin that you need. #smm #socialwarfare” quote=”Social Warfare is the best and only social media sharing plugin that you need. “]
There’s even this handy Click to Tweet option by Social Warfare.
Improve User Experience
Last but not least, here’s a very obvious reason to get Social Warfare. You can customize your social share buttons to match your blog’s design. Don’t you like how my buttons match my theme?
You can choose whether you want your social share buttons to follow the reader on the top, bottom, or side of the page. It makes it really for the reader to share the post wherever he is. No having to scroll back up to the top or waiting to the end to share.
Both the functionality and design of Social Warfare will increase your reader’s experience.
